I love it when I get new newborn wraps, headbands, and outfits in the mail! As a Guam newborn photographer, sometimes it's difficult to get things sent here. So I was excited when all my new products arrived and I couldn't wait to try them out. Baby Mya was such a beautiful newborn baby girl. She was intent on not sleeping but that was alright with me. That just gave me extra time to rock her to sleep! One of the best perks of being a Guam newborn photographer is getting some time to rock babies to sleep. I think baby Mya was just really in love with her gorgeous momma and wanted to look at her all morning! After a few hours, we were able to get some beautiful photos of Mya and her beautiful little family. In the end, she was coziest in the arms of her parents and she fell fast asleep when it came time for family photos. I love capturing new parents with their babies. It's such a special time to photograph. Here are some of my favorites from this newborn session! Looking for a Guam Newborn Photographer? I'd love to work with you! When Yamira contacted me about family photos, I was excited when I heard she wanted a woodsy and mountain location. I had planned for two locations just minutes apart from each other, but the weather had different plans and unfortunately, we didn't make it to the mountain location. Guam's weather can be pretty unpredictable and when it was raining on and off all day, I was getting really anxious. Yamira's husband was leaving 2 days later so we didn't have wiggle room to reschedule. Of course, minutes before they arrived, a giant black cloud rolled over the location. At that very moment, as I was jumping up and clearing branches out of of the way, my sandal broke. I had to do the entire session barefoot!! Lesson learned, no more sandals when I go on photo shoots! As the session went on, I found out that they were Puerto Rican. My husband is also Puerto Rican and it made sense that I felt like I was around family. This session was so fun and comfortable. There was so much love between big sister Jadelyn and her little sister Karoleena. It was so great to be able to photograph this! At the end of the day, we were able to get beautiful photos and so many great moments were captured. Looking for a Guam Family Photographer? At the end of last year I had the pleasure of photographing Victoria's maternity session. I loved this session because it was clear that this couple was so in love with each other. We had the most beautiful sunlight by the end of the session, the cutest momma to be, and so much love to photograph. This was a photography recipe for success. Fast forward several months later and I'm photographing beautiful baby Grace at 6 months old. Seriously, this baby girl is such a beauty. And how cute is she in her little batgirl outfit?! For more recent work click on the following link: https://www.lisavelezphotography.com/lvpblog. OR follow me on my facebook and instagram pages! About a year and a half ago I moved into my Guam studio in Hagatna. This move has allowed me to grow so much. It's fun to look back on where I started, back when I was working out of my own with natural light and to see how far I've come. Here are some photos of my most recent newborn sessions. Baby Vaeda was the first newborn to be photographed in my new Guam home. We had recently moved, and as a natural light photographer, I was excited to work with the natural light in my new space. Baby Vaeda was 10 days new and made my job easy. She was was wide awake by the end of the session and once her momma told her this was her first modeling session, she perked up and looked right at the camera and smiled. It was the cutest! Newborns are so special and I love to keep sessions simple with the focus on baby. I really loved how this newborn session turned out and I am so grateful to have this wonderful family be the first to experience a newborn session in my new space! The Viramontes family moved to Guam a little over a year ago and are full of adventure. They’re a fun-loving family and I wanted to capture this in their photos. This was their first family photo session and I wanted to make sure it was beautiful. I found a spot with beautiful flame trees where the sun hit just right. I really loved the richness and beautiful colors we were going to get from this location! We had some challenges! Guam is pretty unpredictable when it comes to weather. It rained just before their family session and the grass was wet and itchy. We later had to deal with toads and finally had wild pigs running by!! Ohhh....and the cute little puppy in their photos was rescued by our family and these guys decided to adopt her. Her name is Hazel and I'm so happy she found such a great home!! And here are some photos of Hazel with her sisters the day after we rescued them! We ended up keeping the white puppy. Looking for a Guam family photographer? This little girl has to be one of the most adorable little girls ever. I was pretty excited when her momma told me the theme of her birthday party. They were doing a Guam theme since she was born on Guam. She mentioned that she wanted to do her session with latte stones and that she was building her party around the plumeria flower. Latte stones are unique to Guam and the Marianas Islands. They are pillars that were used as support to ancient houses and are unique in their two piece construction topped with a capstone. You can still find real latte stones throughout Guam and the Marianas Islands. They are pretty magnificent when you think about their size and how the Chamorro people were able to construct the latte stones and their houses. I found out from a friend that there were little latte stones at the Government of Guam Complex so I went to check those out. They were super cute little latte stones. Then I was off to check out the latte stones in Inarajan, Guam. I found some plumeria trees while turning around near the latte stones so it seemed like the perfect spot! Now it was time for her session! She wore the cutest plumeria dress and plumeria headband while I photographed her under the plumeria trees. And check out the awesome sign her momma put together all on her own. I was so impressed! She later changed into her cute tutu and her onesie. Her momma did an amazing job making her tutu as well. Every little detail from her Guam seal headband to her plumeria necklace and her onesie with the island of Guam and plumerias worked so perfectly together. It was such a pleasure working with this adorable birthday girl and her momma!! Looking for a Guam photographer to photograph a milestone session? One of the greatest things about being a Guam photographer is being able to capture the lives of growing families. This particular newborn photography session was truly special because I took her momma's maternity photos just a few months prior. As you may recall, Britanny's maternity session was done on Naval Base Guam on a rainy day. Brittany looked beautiful and her photos are some of my favorites! Now baby Airi had arrived and it was time for newborn photos. Brittany really wanted her girl to wear a tutu. She found a cute pink one and brought it to the session. In addition to the tutu we did some photos using wraps that I had on hand. I loved how they turned out! Here are some of my favorites from her session! We had to include Big Sister Ava in the photos as well! As a Guam photographer and mother, Maternity sessions are truly special to me. This blog is all about beautiful Brittany's maternity session. I was so excited to capture this time in her life. We chose to do them at Navy Base Guam so her and her family wouldn't have to travel far. We started out with photos to include beautiful big sister Ava. I love the connection and playfulness between them. This momma LOVES her daughter and I'm glad I was able to capture this in her session. It worked out great that we started with momma and Ava because like many 3 year olds, she soon lost interest in taking photos. We moved on to couple maternity photos and then to individual photos before the rain forced us to end the session. We had a great session even with the rainy weather! The chances of rain on Guam are pretty high, but the sun usually comes through even on the rainiest days and it did for this session. Looking for a maternity photographer located on Guam? After I had my first son, I went on 6 months of leave from my work as a school psychologist. We lived in Hawaii at the time. I began taking photography classes and I took endless photos of my baby boy. Two years later we were on Guam and I had another baby boy. I never returned back to work but I did start two small businesses and life has been an interesting whirlwind ever since. Over the past couple of years I've been blessed to take photos of precious newborns, soon-to-be mommas, children and beautiful families. It really is an absolute honor to be chosen by clients to document their lives. I look forward to this blogging journey and to be able to look back and see my growth in life and photography. Thanks so much for stopping by! Please visit my website and if you're interested in a photo session send me an email at lisavelezphotos@gmail.com or visit the contact page on my website.
